Physical Activity & Assumption of Risk

Last updated: August 23, 2026

Hula and Tahitian dance are physical activities. Please read this important safety information before you begin.

1. Nature of the Activity

The classes offered by Aloha & Hula involve physical movement, including standing, bending, hip movement, footwork, arm positions, rhythmic motion, and sometimes faster or more sustained choreography. Like all forms of exercise and dance, these activities carry inherent risks.

2. Inherent Risks

Risks associated with dance and physical exercise may include, but are not limited to:

  • Muscle strains, sprains, or soreness;
  • Joint or back discomfort;
  • Fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, or dehydration;
  • Slips, trips, or falls, especially on hard or slick surfaces;
  • Aggravation of a pre-existing injury or medical condition.

The risk of injury increases if you dance on unsuitable flooring, wear inappropriate footwear, exceed your current fitness level, or ignore your body’s signals.

3. Consult a Healthcare Professional

We strongly recommend that you consult a qualified healthcare provider before beginning any new exercise or dance program, especially if you are pregnant, postpartum, elderly, have a heart condition, joint problems, a recent injury, chronic illness, or any other medical concern. Our instructors are not medical professionals and cannot provide medical advice.

4. Dance Safe — Your Responsibilities

By using the Service you agree to:

  • Choose a clear, safe space free of obstacles, with enough room to move;
  • Use an appropriate, non-slip floor and wear suitable footwear (or dance barefoot only where safe);
  • Warm up and cool down as guided; stop and rest if you feel pain, dizziness, or discomfort;
  • Stay hydrated and modify or skip movements that don’t feel right for your body;
  • Progress at your own pace — beginner classes are the best starting point if you’re new to dance;
  • Supervise minors appropriately (see Parent/Guardian Information).

5. Assumption of Risk

By accessing and using any class, you confirm that you understand the nature of the activity and its risks, that you are participating voluntarily, and that you assume full responsibility for any risk of injury, illness, or property damage that may result. If you are a parent or guardian purchasing or supervising for a minor, you assume these risks on behalf of the minor.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aloha & Hula, its instructors, and affiliates are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the classes, except where prohibited by law. You agree that participation is at your own risk.

7. Modifications & Pace

Every body is different. Our instructors may offer modifications, but it is your responsibility to adapt choreography to your own level and stop if something causes pain. Honor your body and enjoy the journey at a pace that works for you.
